Top 10: 1 & 2

Okay, well I've finally come to the end of the pre - draft free agent ranking that I had.

Check back tomorrow for the revised list in consideration of KD3.
Number 2: Ty Lawson
I recognize that he has had some substance abuse issues but maybe joining a structured organization would help him avoid those issues. It worked for Jared Allen with much less quality leadership at Winter Park.
He wouldn't be the best offensive weapon to add but is an experienced point that could fill several different roles on the team as needed. I would bet on him trying to find a starting role somewhere but if a trade goes down, that could happen here as a stop gap at minimum. I'm not sure about his defensive ability but Thibs has done more with less while he was in Chi town.
Now for the guy who got me thinking about this whole thing.

Number 1: Randy Foye
I recognize the irony of the top two guys both being acquired by the Timberwolves on draft day yet not really lasting when all was said and done. The problem is that the organization has had a rough time getting the PG position right over the last few years. The one's we've kept have been okay to bad and the ones we've shipped off have been at least good.
It surprised me to see that Foye is still under 30, it seems like the Roy for Foye trade happened so long ago. His three point shooting percent has decreased every season over the last four, which is a disconcerting stat but I would still take him as a combo guard off the bench. That seemed to have been his roll over the last two years, which may factor into the slide in his percentage, but I never heard anything negative about it. It maybe harder to complain on a team that was just in the Western Finals versus a team that hasn't made the playoffs in more then a decade but that's the goal for the Wolves so maybe he would accept it.

The hours til free agency opens are waning quickly and it's a very important time for the front office to show whether they're competent or overwhelmed with the new responsibilities. It's very possible we have our PG of the future, but there are still many needs on the team and the decisions that are made will start the ripple effect into the future. A future which looks so bright but could go very wrong very quickly, as it has so many times in Minnesota sports history. It's fun and nerve racking to think about and wait for the decisions and additions that will start rolling in.

But that's all for now, check back tomorrow for the rearranged list of free agents, with more then a couple surprises!
