So there have been some big local news breaks over the past couple days but none of them merit a post alone so I'm gonna go with a quick wrap on everything.
- The Lynx are undefeated. 7 - 0 with more double digit wins then single digit victories. This is what champions do. Great job ladies!
- Rumor has it the Timberwolves will pursue Joakim Noah from the Bulls. That's not especially surprising since he played very well under Thibs during the Bulls recent run of success. I'm not sure he has longevity or athleticism to merit a starting roll type contract for the pups but his experience will probably deride that to some degree if he signs here.
- A few days ago Vegas put out odds on every NBA's team chance to win the 2017 championship. The local five were eleventh. A team that hasn't made the playoffs since I was frosh in high school is in the top 11!!!! There are only four Western Conference teams above them. It's unbelievable! Fairness in facts, they're tied with three other West teams so as not to mislead. Do I think they're a contender? No. But Vegas gets these things wrong so rarely. Even they're putting money on our squad making the playoffs!
- The best safety in the NFL just got PAID. 5 years, 50+ million for the one and only Harrison Smith. Haven't seen the specifics on it yet but however it breaks down, this is a win. I have heard that it is loaded heavily in the early years of the contract which makes sense with all the young guy who need to get paid in the coming years. An underrated element to this is that getting the contract done this early is just another testament of how quality this guy is.
- FanKato is coming to a wrap. After decades of being the training camp home of the Purple, Mankato's run as the July mecca for those who Skol is coming to an end. It's not a big surprise since the organization is going to relocate operations to Eagan. Staying in the Metro has pros and cons but it will be a big change either way.
- The Twins still suck. At 8 wins a month they'll get to 48. Cue the headache. Please stop going to the field. Stop watching the games. Make the Pohlad's lose money so they feel compelled to pay for competent players. An every salary of $120 million is not too much to force out of those cheapskates. I'm still boycotting. Please join me.
Well there it is. I don't think I missed any notable local sports stories, but if I did let me know!
