Streaking

Before I get started, thank you to any and all of you who have checked out my little slice of sportsdom over the last few days. I got my first post on here with 100+ views and it feels good. Alright, onto lottery talk!

The NBA draft lottery is just wrapping up and once again the Timberwolves did not move up in the NBA draft.  They could have picked lower then they will be but they also did not slide down even one pick. As slotted they received the fifth overall selection in the 2016 NBA draft.

Some people will be negative on the fact that we still haven't been able to jump up at all in the process, but get real people! Weird as it may seem, I didn't want to pick #1 and I don't think #2 would be that much better. I don't like Ben Simmons and am not convinced that Brandon Ingram would be an upgrade over Wiggins.

I was hoping for the third or fourth pick and while it's a little anti-climactic am content with selecting fifth.

Maybe it'll be for the best since it may have a reduced possibility of trade related foolishness. I hope that Thibs just takes the best shooting guard available but am too jaded by Minnesota history to consider it a certainty. Just don't trade down. Please!

There are pros and cons to both of the two top shooters in the draft and I'll get into that after the break. Here goes!
Some people may say that Buddy Heild is too old or too small or something something something. That dude is a cold blooded assassin. He developed in college. He knew enough to go back for his senior year and only became the player of the year in all ball. High end 19 year olds are nice but do we really need another? Not necessarily.

It's time to find a plug and play shooting guard for the starting line up who will play requisite defense. I personally hope it's Buddy but it could be Jamaal Murray.

Coming from Kentucky there's little doubt that he received quality coaching during his one year. He was a dynamic shooter for much of the year but he's not even a year removed from high school. KAT was in the same state a year ago and he turned out so I'm not going to hold it against him that he's young.

Either way, put them next to Ricky, have Thibs push em to play defense and we'll be another piece closer to breaking that nasty playoff drought streak. Whether Buddy or Murray I'm going to trust the scouting and in the poobah to make the right choice and make it the right choice.

So the streak of not moving up in the lotto may have lasted another year but with any luck it'll be the last time in the lottery for a while, which would mean the ending of the drought streak. I think we can all agree which is more significant!

So June 23 ya'll, it's gonna be a fun month!!

  1. you write this like you have some insight on how the nba works or what the wolves should do. But you say you wanted a 3rd or 4th pick? Do a little research next time because it was NOT possible to draft 4th overall. it was 1,2,3,5,6,7, or 8th.

  2. Yeah I had heard that but never the reason behind it so didn't give it much regard. The same sources that I heard about the no chance from said that they're greatest odds were for the sixth pick, which would have been a move downward. So they bucked the odds and got the pick they were slotted for. You're a troll so your only purpose is to tear people down because you're a small, angry man. Well, thanks for pinpoint the fact but I still don't think it's worth regarding and am glad that the team didn't fall at all!
